Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center Room Use Policy

Effective January 1, 2003 until further notice

The Meyerson Conference Room and the Class of 1955 Room will be available only for Library sponsored meetings Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm. This change is being made because planned renovations are expected to reduce the number of Library meeting spaces.

The Meyerson Conference Room and the Class of 1955 Room will be available on a first come, first served basis in the evenings and on weekends provided the room is not reserved for a Library function. These rooms are intended for meetings. Therefore, the Library reserves the right to deny reservation requests if it determines that the use would be inappropriate (e.g. potentially noisy or disruptive) in the context of other Library programs.

Schools of the University may use the rooms for academic programs for up to two hours at no charge; however, no food is permitted. For non-academic use of the rooms, a $50 charge is assessed for up to two hours' use.

Food is never permitted in the Class of 1955 Room. For the Meyerson Conference Room, a $150 charge is assessed for academic or non-academic use if food is present. If the room is booked as a no-food event but food or other garbage is discovered after the event, the department, organization or individual will be billed.

The Meyerson Conference Room has five configurations available: oval, horseshoe, circle, rectangular and individual tables of four. Because room set-up in Meyerson is labor intensive, we ask that, whenever possible, no special configuration be specified. However, if a special configuration is important to the success of the meeting, at least 48 hours notice is required when booking.

To book a room, contact Ms. Susan Kennedy: 898-7091 or skkenned@pobox.upenn.edu
University departments will be asked for a budget code. Other organizations or individuals wishing to reserve a room will have to pay by check at the time of the booking.
